iHeir-BJ textile mildew inhibitor

Product Overview

iHeir-BJ is a high-performance antifungal and antibacterial agent for textiles, produced and sold by iHeir Ai Hao Er (China) Co., Ltd. It is specifically designed for textiles, non-woven fabrics, underwear, shoes and socks, bedding, towels, carpets, and similar materials, providing permanent antimicrobial, antifungal, and anti-dust mite protection. iHeir-BJ has been specified for use by numerous internationally renowned brands such as Nike, Reebok, Adidas, J.C. Penny, Walmart, K-mart, Timberland, Mark & Spencer, and can be marketed with hang tags, significantly enhancing product image and international market competitiveness.

Core Technology: Non-Leaching Bonded Antimicrobial

iHeir-BJ utilizes a unique non-leaching bonding technology. The antimicrobial molecules form a permanent chemical bond with the fiber surface, creating a stable antimicrobial layer on the treated product. Its mode of action is physical/mechanical: when bacteria come into contact with the treated surface, the antimicrobial layer attracts and punctures the bacterial cell membrane, rapidly destroying them. This technology is registered with the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and has been successfully applied in areas with extremely high safety requirements, such as surgical wound care medical products.

Because the antimicrobial agent is not consumed, does not leach, and does not migrate, its effective lifespan matches the service life of the treated product itself, and it does not lead to microbial resistance.

Key Advantages

  • Long-Lasting Efficacy: The antimicrobial agent is permanently bonded to the fiber surface, non-leaching, and does not diminish with washing or abrasion. The antifungal and antibacterial effect lasts as long as the product itself.

  • Safe & Environmentally Friendly: Contains no arsenic, tin, heavy metals, or chlorophenols. Does not leach into the environment or onto human skin. Oral toxicity LD50 is 12.65 g/kg, which is safer than table salt (LD50 approx. 3 g/kg). Non-irritating to human skin with no toxic side effects.

  • Broad-Spectrum Antimicrobial: Effectively inhibits bacteria, mold, algae, dust mites, and other microorganisms, preventing odors, stains, degradation, and allergic reactions caused by microbial growth.

  • Good Process Compatibility: Suitable for various substrates including natural and synthetic fibers. Can be integrated into factory wet processing stages without affecting fabric hand feel.

  • Rapid Detection: Using a bromophenol blue water test, the presence of the antimicrobial layer can be verified with only water and two minutes, much faster than the days or weeks required for traditional leaching-type antimicrobial tests.

  • International Certifications: Certified by US EPA (#64881-1), European EINECS, China FDA, Canadian PMRA, US FDA 510(k) for medical devices, Japanese SEK (No.01289), and Oeko-Tex Standard 100, among other authoritative bodies.

Scope of Application

Apparel, shoes, socks, hats, underwear, down products, bedding, carpets, printed/dyed textiles, medical products (e.g., surgical wound dressings), hotel linens, etc.

Application Method

Recommended Process: Padding Method

  1. Calculate Wet Pick-Up (%WPU): Weigh the dry fabric → Immerse in water and pass through nip rollers → Weigh the wet fabric. Calculate using the formula:

  2. Prepare Treatment Bath: Recommended usage rate is 2% – 3% o.w.f. (on weight of fabric). For example, to treat 100 kg of fabric, 2–3 kg of iHeir-BJ concentrate is needed.

  3. Operating Conditions:

    • Bath Temperature: 21°C – 50°C (ideally below 48°C)

    • pH: 4.5 – 8.5 (ideal pH approx. 6)

    • Water Quality: Soft water must be used (avoid high valence salts such as CaCO₃)

  4. Procedure:

    • Pre-mix iHeir-BJ with 9–13 times its volume of water, then add to the treatment bath in portions, ensuring thorough dispersion.

    • After the fabric is saturated with the solution in the bath, pass it through nip rollers to control the wet pick-up, then dry.

  5. Compatibility:

    • iHeir-BJ is cationic and can be used together with cationic or non-ionic softeners and other auxiliaries.

    • Do not mix with anionic auxiliaries, as precipitation and loss of efficacy will occur. If anionic auxiliaries are required, use separate processes: treat with iHeir-BJ first, dry, then treat with the anionic auxiliary.

Application Examples

  • Standard Antifungal/Antibacterial/Anti-Dust Mite Fabric: Add 2-3% o.w.f., bath with pure water (pH 4-6), wet pick-up 70%.

  • Moisture Wicking + Antifungal/Antibacterial: Because iHeir-BJ contains silicon, it may reduce moisture wicking. An additional cationic hydrophilic agent (e.g., 0.1%) is required.

Antifungal Duration

  • Addition rate 2% o.w.f.: Continuous antifungal effect over 1 year

  • Addition rate 3% o.w.f.: Continuous antifungal effect over 2–3 years

Precautions

  • Ensure the fabric surface is clean, free from oil, resin, or residues before treatment, as these may affect adhesion and durability.

  • Use soft water for the treatment bath and regularly check water quality.

  • Use the prepared solution as soon as possible for optimal results.

  • Wear chemical protective equipment (chemical-resistant gloves, safety glasses, etc.) during handling and refer to the product MSDS.

  • Dispose of remaining waste liquid by neutralization with anionic soapy water, or according to local environmental regulations.

Packaging & Storage

  • Packaging Specifications: Please consult the company sales representative (commonly available in drums).

  • Storage Conditions: Protect from light and moisture. Store below 25°C.

  • Shelf Life: 1 year for the concentrate when stored under recommended conditions.
