iHeir-M8 Bamboo & Wood Antifungal Agent
Product Overview
iHeir-M8 is a high-efficiency, broad-spectrum, non-leaching long-acting antimicrobial treatment agent for bamboo and wood. It is a transparent amber liquid whose main active ingredients are a mixture of 5-Chloro-2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one (CMIT) and 2-Methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one (MIT), along with acetic acid. It utilizes a mechanical sterilization mechanism, forming chemical bonds with the surface of bamboo, wood, rattan, grass, and other substrates at room temperature to create a durable and stable antimicrobial protective layer, effectively preventing mold, rot, and insect damage without inducing microbial resistance.
Key Features
-
Non-Leaching & Long-Lasting: The antimicrobial components do not leach, migrate, or get consumed by microorganisms, offering durability matching the product’s service life.
-
Mechanical Sterilization – No Resistance: Physically disrupts microbial cell membranes, unlike traditional leaching-type chemical fungicides, maintaining high efficacy even after long-term use.
-
Broad-Spectrum Antimicrobial: Effectively inhibits Gram-positive bacteria (e.g., Staphylococcus aureus), Gram-negative bacteria (e.g., Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa), mold (Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus flavus, Penicillium, etc.), yeast, algae, and other microorganisms.
-
Room-Temperature Bonding, High-Temperature Stability: Reacts at room temperature (e.g., during spraying); the efficacy is not easily compromised by subsequent high-temperature environments.
-
Anti-Insect Function: Also provides insect-repellent properties, reducing the risk of insect damage.

-
Acute Dermal Toxicity (Rabbit, female): LD50 = 3600 mg/kg
-
Acute Dermal Toxicity (Rabbit, male): LD50 = 3500 mg/kg
-
The concentrate is moderately irritating to skin; at use dilution, it is non-irritating.
-
Environmental decomposition: Rapidly and completely decomposes into harmless substances, low environmental risk.

Application Methods
Immersion Method (Recommended)
-
Prepare the immersion solution at a ratio of 1 part iHeir-M8 : 20 parts water.
-
Completely immerse the bamboo/wood products in the solution, ensuring they remain below the liquid surface.
-
Immerse for approximately 1–10 minutes until the product weight gain reaches 10% – 20%.
-
Remove, drain excess solution, and air dry or sun dry before packaging and storage.
-
The solution can be reused; it is recommended to use within 1 month.
Spray/Brush Method
-
Dilute with water at a ratio of 1:20, mix well.
-
Evenly spray or brush onto the product surface, ensuring complete coverage.
-
Allow to air dry naturally.
Antifungal Duration
When the moisture content of treated products is below 25%, the continuous antifungal effect can last for over 1 year.
Precautions
-
Shake well after diluting with water before use. Some floating matter on the surface after prolonged standing is normal; shake well before use.
-
The diluted solution should ideally be used within 1 month.
-
This product complies with REACH requirements. The concentrate may cause skin sensitivity in some individuals; wearing rubber gloves is recommended during handling.
Antifungal Efficacy Test (Refer to GB/T 18261-2013)
-
Simple comparative test: Place treated and untreated samples together in a dark, humid environment. Observe after 7–15 days.
-
Accelerated test: Place samples in petri dishes containing agar, then in a constant temperature and humidity chamber (90% RH, 28°C). Preliminary results can be obtained within 3–7 days.
Packaging & Storage
-
Packaging Specifications: 25 kg/drum
-
Storage Conditions: Protect from moisture and light.
-
Shelf Life (Concentrate): 3 years
